It was house maintenance week this week. I took a couple of days off to do some de-cluttering and get some people in. Hard rubbish got rid of two old mattresses, three former recycle bins, a big plank of wood, an old fan and two disused old bicycles. Amusingly, between putting stuff out/booking the collection ... Photos, pictures etc
Ten years ago this week I got my first digital camera: a Canon A70. I’d held on until the price seemed right and they did a half-decent job of video recording (as my old Video-8 video camera had given up the ghost a couple of years before). I assume I only started with a fairly ... [More]
Live from the BBC! I’m no big fan of motor vehicles, but that is a fine looking machine. Advert for Myki top-up at 7-11 talks up the fact that it’s instant, without the delay of online top-up. And finally, from a friend’s kids’ party last weekend… this castle had a high quotient of princesses in ... [More]
Jupiter and the Moon
For those who missed seeing Jupiter and the Moon last night, here’s a picture: Sorry, it’s never going to be brilliant from a handheld camera. Shoulda grabbed my tripod — it worked quite well for the smiley in the sky a few years ago.
See it bigger I thought it was not bad for a handheld point-and-shoot camera.
Don’t cross Rusty
You might recall last month I posted a picture of Jack the dog: This is his comrade, Rusty: Jack is a friendly dog. Rusty… not so much.
The hay shed at sunset, Christmas night
You can tell I don’t have a good blog post ready to go when I post a bunch of pictures. Here’s a few from last week (that you may have seen if you follow me on Twitter). Mer Chri! — This was on Thursday night — by Friday they’d put up the other letters. Below ... [More]
Pretty funny: Southern Cross Station has departure signs sponsored by Red Rooster. In part because they show less information, they actually have fewer errors than the official signs — but beware — it appears they don’t show trains departing in less than 10 minutes (because they want you to think there’s time to go and ... Stubbly me
There are times when a random snap turns out to be quite a good photo — without any cropping or editing. Jeremy snapped this on the way back from camping a couple of weeks ago. I like it.
I don’t have a proper blog post for you, so here’s a few pictures from the last week or so. If you were looking for Myer’s Lonsdale Street store, it’s gone — almost all of it except the facade. (When I was a kid, we often went into the City on a Friday night, had ... [More]
After much procrastination, I got a new camera. It’s a Canon IXUS 115, to replace the old Canon A70 I got way back in 2003. The old one still just about works (with minor problems), so I figured Canon was deserving of my loyalty. (My 4-ish year old Canon MP610 printer/scanner is going strong too.) ... [More]
