Recently I was looking through a bunch of old floppy disks, having a bit of a cleanup, and found a bunch of old favourite sound files, which I thought I’d share. Most of them date back to a job in 1996…
- A short rant about the Internet (from “ER” of all things)
- Classic line from Gus on “Drop The Dead Donkey”, quoting George. Warning, coarse language! I think I had my PC set up to play this when a program crashed.
- Mr Gumby. I used this as an e-mail alert. It was famously played very loudly across the office one day by mistake.
- Viv from “The Young Ones”. Rather fittingly, this played when I shut down my PC as I left to go home.

Drop the Dead Donkey. Ah, those were the days.
Are there DVDs?
I loved the office story you linked to back in 96.
Did a similar thing at British Aerospace once – we had some PowerMacs which had a reset and a power button, and if you pressed and held both at once (or something like that) it made a huge explosion/breaking glass sound. Very loudly.
Nice.
Doug, there are a few VHS tapes of DTDD available, and one best-of DVD.
