It’s the end of October already… so here’s a post of photos from ten years ago: October 2011.
Brisbane – we’d gone up to visit my Dad’s memorial bench at University of Queensland and to see relatives.
We had a hotel room in central Brisbane. My practice is to try and book something walking distance from the CBD and the airport train. This fit the bill nicely.
A Brisbane busway jam encountered during our stay.

Train stabling in Brisbane
On our way out of town, I met up with Brisbane public transport advocate Robert Dow, and he introduced me to this lady: Annastacia Palaszczuk – then transport minister, but now Premier of Queensland.
Back in Melbourne, they were trying to get people to use the bike share scheme by deploying vending machines with helmets. The service eventually finished operation in November 2019.
Despite footpath crowding near Flagstaff station, it took almost a decade for them to widen the footpath… but they eventually got it done.
Flinders Street station at night…
Yeah, thanks for your contribution to my photo, mate. (Also note the bottle at top right.)
What’s everybody waiting for? A tram. And the Queen.
And there she is… or at least, her sillouhette.

I remember seeing that busway photo and I’d forgotten that it was yours. It is, or I hope was, worse than Sydney CBD street bus congestion.
I was at the other end waiting for the HM to leave the tram. I was surprised how nimbly she was down the tram steps and into a large SUV to be driven to Government House.
