I had a day off. It was a good day, except…
Worried about my dad, in hospital
Chicken curry dinner took ages to cook
Slight tummy ache. Hope it’s not Bowen Belly ™. I think I ate too much chocolate
Eldest not yet done nearly as much school holiday homework as expected
A tad stressed about something coming up later in the week
Large cockroach crawed across the kitchen counter
SecurID unexpectedly expired
Bumped my head on kids’ bunk bed
Feeling tired — still haven’t done washing up
Other than that, admittedly, mostly a good day.

“Oh, glorious day off!”
Have you ever read the kid’s picture book “Alexander and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day”?
Seriously, hope your dad is improving.
Trish, I certainly have read that book! Check this.
The other things on the list are small compared to your dad. When my dad died two years ago it really put into perspective what is important to worry about. I hope yours will be ok.
In less than eight hours I leave to begin my journey and new life in Melbourne. Your blog and the replies are a great window to average everyday life in my furtre home and they contain much useful and interesting information. I have no plans to return to the US. I will be drinking a lot of VB in the coming weeks. Thanks, Jed
Good luck Jed — don’t just drink VB though. There’s Cascade, Boag’s, Beez Kneez, plenty of others!
Hope your Dad is better soon.
If today isn’t any better, pop over and join the Name That…Thing competition…it’ll kill at least 5 boring seconds:P
ditto good luck to Jed. I was just reading some comments the other day and thinking that it seems like Jed has been ‘about to move to Melbourne’ forever!!
I’ve been here six years in June and have never regretted the choice!
cheers
Im here in Melbourne (in a hotel in Richmond) now but my bags are not. I have however had my VB and Carlton too!!
Bags delivered to my hotel by Qantas!! A bit frayed and one thing leaked but nothing missing or broken!! Their journey is unknown but probably as interesting as mine. I can hear the tram pass in front of my hotel in my room. Today I check out some markets I have not seen yet in Melbourne!! This city is even more fantastic than I remembered from my last trip here!
