My kids were in Hawaii over Christmas with their mum for a family get together.
They looked for something uniquely Hawaiian to bring me back, and settled on this.
I love getting a souvenir that is truly unique to a place.
It’s just as is labelled on the can. They’re macadamias, but they’re spam-flavoured.
Who knew?

Yuck!
we loved the reaction when we pointed out that Macadamia nuts are Australian … the addition of SPAM to them is definitely a US thing … how did they taste?
Crazy, you’d think Macadamia nut flavoured spam would have been a better idea. They’ve succeeded in making a sow’s ear out of a silk purse.
I can’t believe I’m writing this and my only excuse is that it’s nearly dinner time but they sound quite delicious to me.
Were they?
They tasted like… well, like spam-flavoured macadamias. Not revolting, not so fantastic I’d seek them out again from USA Foods etc.
Most Americans associate macadamia nuts with Hawaii and have no Idea that they are originally from Australia. Spam is popular in Hawaii and some other islands since it was distributed there during and after WW2 and the locals developed a fondness for it. Most mainland Americans would not eat it.
Ha! This is quite hilarious.
I’m also a big fan of the Spam cans in Japan.
