I just bought one.
It’s walking distance to a zone 1 station and a great shopping strip (supermarket, library, coffee shops).
There’s ways to improve it, but it’s really lovely and very liveable even as-is. It’s art-deco style, 1930-ish.
Two words: central heating / dish washer. Argh wait, is that four words?
It’s on a subdivided block, but with a reasonable amount of garden left both at the front and back. So I won’t slave over it every weekend, and it was affordable for me.
Moving day will be in October.
Update: a couple of pics

Oh wow! A house in Zone One! (People unfamiliar with Melbourne probably won’t realise how good this is – but believe me, it’s good!) Congratulations! Living one station into Zone Two has made me further appreciate my old Zone One address.
Congratulations! It sounds ideal. I just hope you didn’t have to sell your soul to the devil to afford the mortgage!
Which map of the Melways are you on now?
Well done, I hope it is everything you want.
Great news Daniel. Congratulations.
Congratulations Daniel!
Brilliant! Zone one, central heating & dishwasher. Is that the three most important checkboxes checked? Congrats!
Congrats!
Sounds like quite a find. Hope there aren’t any nasty surprises in store. Good luck with it.
Congratulations Daniel! Move-in in October? Can you have a celebration now and a housewarming then?
Congrats and looking forward to seeing pix of it! Enjoy.
Here I am doing “extensive” legwork for a blog post about dear Australia, and wouldn’t you know you come up pretty highly in the search standings.
Congrats on the house – I am such a nerd, but I absolutely love moving, especially the packing and unpacking!
Excellent! Wonderful news! Congrats!!!
Where about’s in zone one? Congrats and let us know when the “Open Day for everyone who reads my blog” is!
Congrats!!!
MrLefty’s going to be jealous of the zone one aspect.
Congratulations.
Congratulations Daniel. I am house hunting too and know what you have been through. Trust it is well worth all the effort.
Well done. Perseverence has paid off!
Les: It’s in a great location, but regrettably it slid off ‘our page’ by about >||
Congratulations.
Congrats!
Well done. So which map are you on now? Is it out past the tram tracks?
Congrats Daniel. I know you’ve been looking for ages!
Welcome to the wonderful world of house ownership. Hope it’s everything you wanted.
You kept that very quiet this time, worried talking on your diary might jinx the deal?
What zone 1 station are you near?
Thanks all. I’ll post more details soon.
Congratulations Daniel!!!!! I know you have been looking a long time, and now you finally have your own place, way cool!
well done and about time too!
where’s the pictures of it then?
Good on you Daniel. As someone who has read for it seems like years your attempts to get into the housing market, it is pleasing to see you finally get to have a huge mortgage! I agree on the comment above about keeping it quiet – probably the best way to do it.
Congratulations!
Cant wait to see piccies of your Dishwasher – have been in my own home for 3 years and am dying for a dishwasher. PS congrats on finding a place that you can settle down in and get your free time back from the endless round of searching.
GREAT!!! So where are the pictures??? It sounds good and I know you’ve been looking a long time…
Dave
Ditto everyone else!! (is this the most comments ever?)
I think you should keep track of every time you do a drive/walk-by between now and settlement – it seems you can never do it too much :-)
I’m just catching up …
YAY!!! Congrats! – v. pleased for you that you’ve finally found a place to eventually call your own.
Congrats Daniel – well done!!
Oh, wow! Throw as much stuff away as you can now, all the better for moving…
