Web site notes

So, why the name change? ToxicCustard is a name that’s been with me for more than 15 years, and first got an airing with some writing of mine in university, back in 1990. I’ve grown and changed in the last 15 years. Matured, I hope, and I no longer feel the name no longer sits well with my diary.

What new name then? Well I already owned danielbowen.com, which was doing very little, so it seemed logical to move it over to here. It makes me easier to find with my name, it puts a degree of separation between my diary and some of the old very silly (but enjoyable) writing I’ve done in the past. And it may lend more of an air of credibility to some of the more serious pieces I’ve written.

Using your own name in your web address is quite common. My sister, Brian, Alex, Cameron and Tony are examples that spring to mind. (Chris left a comment than individuals can now buy theirname.com.au … I’ll look into that as an alias, but I’m comfortable with this address.)

A lot of people continue to use aliases on their blogs. And fair enough too, I’m not criticising. But for me, it was time to move on.

  • . Oh, and I’ve found a few things that still need fixing, mostly images that have disappeared, but also most 2003 posts don’t display. Will fix them ASAP.

Note: There’ll be some web site maintenance going on tonight from 6pm for a couple of hours. For some of this time, the site may be unreachable.

NOOOO!!! This means, of course, that the “Great Vomits of the 20th Century” will never be updated again.

Let’s hope that this maturity is just a phase, and that you’ll have a midlife crisis soon and get a little car with a big engine.
