Is going to the Grand Prix just for the post-race concert the equivalent to reading Playboy for the articles? ‘Cos that’s what I’m doing. I don’t know if I’ll bother looking at the cars whizzing round and round, but I’m really looking forward to the music.
And for those living in Victoria, may I just tell you how grateful I am for all of you helping to subsidise my concert ticket. Well, that is, apparently upwards of $30 million goes to the whole event, so I figure at least some of that must be helping to pay for the concert.
It’s certainly the first time I’ve seen banners featuring The Who logo up around town…
And the band came to town earlier this week in a blaze of publicity.
I don’t care if they’re old fuddy-duddies, there’s a bunch of songs I can’t wait to hear live… including Pinball Wizard, Baba O’Riley, and of course the one that started it all for me, Won’t Get Fooled Again.

Brilliant clip -Takin’ a bow for the new revolution!
Can’t find the concert listed in the Grand Prix Program
According to the ticketek website, the concert starts at 9am Sunday. That can’t be right, can it?
PS Have you seen this very nice clip of Townsend explaining how he created that distinctive and innovative synth organ sound?
The day’s events start at 9am, the race is at 5pm, and finishes somewhere between 6:30pm and 7pm, so I guess the concert is after that. I think somewhere it said the gates close at 10pm.
Yeah, have seen the whole Classic Albums episode on Who’s Next; it’s been on TV, and I managed to pick it up for about $10 on DVD. Great stuff.
Have a wonderful time Daniel! I’m hoping that Webbo does well, after his broken leg last year in Tasmania. Truly hope that the new team Brawn kicks the pants off of McLaren (one of the richest teams). Wish I could be there to see it live. But, oh well, they’ve taken away our Montreal GP. Buggers
8.45pm Sun evening – I just stepped into my garden – can clearly hear “Won’t Get Fooled Again” from here (I’m in Southbank) – must be bloody loud in Albert Park!
Hope you are having a great night.
