October already? Where has the year gone?
The weather was glorious over the weekend. Suddenly it feels like summer is here, even though it’s only peaked at around 28°C. Enough for my English mate who is visiting to be sweating like a pig. Myself, I’ve been roaming around in shorts half the time.
I was so busy that I never got around to visiting the rest of the houses in my quest for charity donations before the September 30th deadline. So I’m just going to contribute some of the money I earned when I was interrupted and should have been out collecting. And I’ll try and avoid doing that again. I’m just not cut out for knocking on strangers’ doors. Hell, I treat most doorknockers with such contempt myself, I feel more than a little hypocritical to be doing it, though I have gained a little (just a little) bit of sympathy for them. At least, the ones who aren’t trying to rip me off, and are gracious when I’m not interested.
A little while ago I sent a version of the VCR Destruction video to Australia’s Funniest Home Videos. Maybe it’s a sign of how the humour shown in that programme that today I got a letter back from them saying they didn’t want to use it. They didn’t go into the specifics of why, but evidently it just wasn’t to their liking. Oh well. Some kind of prize involving lots of money and an overseas holiday and a couple of cars would have been nice, but no matter.
