Lazy Sunday morning, but we had to be out of the hotel by 10 am.
The flight wasn’t until 2pm. We decided to take it easy and explore our section of the Sydney CBD.
We walked up to the QVB building and wandered around. Then to a nearby bookshop and from there up and around George Street and Pitt Street.
The trams weren’t running; workers seemed busy on the tracks. I’ve heard the wireless power system needs a lot of maintenance; not sure if that was part of it.
There also seemed to be a few vintage buses driving around, part of the Sydney Bus Museum fleet.
Back to the hotel to pick up the luggage and then to the airport on the train. All very easy, even if we did once again go the long way around the City Circle.
Parts of the Sydney suburban network (and light rail) had been shut down for works over the weekend, it happily this did not affect us.
The plane home as on time too. I snapped a few pics out of the window. I think this one is near Bonnie Doon.
I feel like for this quick getaway, I finally got my carry-on luggage right. The hotel was good, even if most of the kitchen was left unused.
I do like escaping Melbourne’s winter, even for a few days, and will probably plan something again next year.
Will do a post about the Sydney Metro soon; I have a few notes and pics that I want to put together.

When I visited Sydney last year, on one Sunday the bus museum was open, with transport from the city to the museum by vintage bus. Unfortunately there were city demonstrations and the bus could not pick up from its usual stop, and it all became too hard and so that is saved for another visit.
